At ONCE, innovation is our foundation. From designing lighting systems that enhance animal welfare to engineering technology that improves farm efficiency, we’re constantly pushing boundaries. Nowhere is this spirit more alive than in Poland, where a legacy of engineering excellence meets modern-day breakthroughs in animal lighting.
Meet three of our exceptional Poland-based engineers who bring our mission to life through curiosity, collaboration, and a relentless focus on quality.
Meet Hubert Paron:
For Hubert Paron, electronics have been a lifelong passion. From disassembling radios as a child in Poland to leading technical development for ONCE today, Hubert has turned curiosity into a craft.
Now an electronic engineer focused on circuits, drivers, and controls, Hubert plays a critical role in translating complex design into reliable, easy-to-use lighting products. “Whatever topic I’m communicating, I know that we’re all aligned,” he says, referring to the global R&D team. “It all goes back to ensuring the devices are designed to be 100% safe and meet performance standard requirements. The customers need to be sure they have a good-quality product.”
One example? The Dome Pro Junglite. When Hubert joined the team 6 year ago, it was still in development. Through close collaboration with colleagues in the U.S. and beyond, and by leveraging deep research, the team successfully brought the product to market.
Now, Hubert is engineering a next-generation EPU-1500 dimmer for the U.S. and Europe, which is a challenge he welcomes. “It’s a quite challenging and interesting opportunity.”
Meet Monika Delikatna:
With nearly two decades at Signify, Monika Delikatna brings a wealth of experience and passion for quality assurance to ONCE. Currently serving as a Field Quality Engineer, she bridges teams across development, sales, purchasing, and service to ensure our products meet the highest standards.
“Quality starts at the very beginning when creating the product,” Monika says. “The product must be prepared in accordance with specific standards and specifications, and many different teams are responsible for that.”
Monika’s job includes identifying customer-reported issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented across the supply chain. She’s recently taken on a new challenge as part of the Advanced Quality Engineers (AQE) group, where she stays on top of country-specific regulations and helps bring new ONCE, a Signify brand, products to global markets.
“I think that at Signify we have a great opportunity to share knowledge and use different quality-related tools that improve the quality of our products and consequently - customer satisfaction.”
Meet Michal Pietrasz:
Michal Pietrasz first joined Philips over 20 years ago as a process engineer for conventional lighting. He quickly became immersed in development, describing his experience with fluorescent lighting as the "golden time of Philips," where he focused on product and process development work. With certifications as a Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Project Leader, and Validation Engineer, Michal transitioned to working on LED products as an animal lighting development engineer.
Michal enjoys the hands-on experience his position offers, assisting with project tasks such as preparing samples and executing electrical measurements behind the scenes. He values his team and finds great satisfaction in his work. His current responsibilities include as well providing support for quality test plants, standard analysis, and pre-compliance testing.
Collaborating with teams across India, China, Indonesia, and the U.S., Michal helps ensure products meet compliance standards, particularly those that affect performance in real-world environments. One example? Ensuring the new dimmer system functions effectively even when surrounded by other electronic devices that may cause electromagnetic interference, which can make a notable performance difference.
Among other projects, Michal and his colleagues are currently working on a quality test plan for the dimmer to ensure compliance with the aforementioned standards prior to formal certification. “There will be a lot of testing and measurement involved. This is what I enjoy the most!”
A Shared Vision: Innovation That Serves the Farmer
While their specialties differ, Hubert, Monika, and Michal are united by a common vision: to create lighting systems that make a measurable difference in animal agriculture.
Whether it’s engineering next-gen dimmers, listening closely to customer feedback, or refining a product to meet new goals, these engineers embody science-backed lighting that works hard for farmers and the animals they care for.
As we continue to grow our global footprint, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the brilliant minds helping us shape the future of animal lighting.
